Cara Appleby Lundquist

Since Cara could walk, she has been dancing, and began dance lessons at the age of 3.  She trained in various genres of dance, tumbling and acro.  Cara studied under the direction of Shelleh Harkcom at Deltona Dance Academy.  Cara took classes for 15 years, until the age of 18.  She is trained in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Tap, Hip-Hop, Modern, and Tumbling/Acro.  At a young age, she traveled to various dance conventions, competitions, workshops and studios, in New York, as well as California, to study from professional choreographers and teachers.  At the age of 8, Cara worked her first professional job at Walt Disney World.  While working for Disney she performed on stage, in commercials and in their televised Christmas parade.  At the age of 9, she was on her 1st television show.  She absolutely loves the arts and entertaining so she kept pursuing her dreams.  She soon ended up on ESPN with Paula Abdul at the age of 14.  She was then a special guest on the “Donnie & Marie Osmond,” show with Paula, and continued her passion in dance once she turned 18.

 

From the age of 18-22 Cara lived in Los Angeles, California, where she was part of BLOC Talent Agency.  She auditioned for numerous commercials, industrials, tours, television shows, and movies.  Within those four years, Cara was hired for various roles and was able to travel the country and overseas to showcase her love for the arts.  She returned home to Florida at the age of 22 to be closer with her family, finish college, and teach children the love for dance that she had.  Since the age of 16, Cara has been teaching and choreographing for children and studios through-out the country.  Aside from teaching & choreographing, she also judges for a number of national competitions, as well as, high school and college auditions around the country.  Cara has had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Mia Michaels, Chris Jacobson, Mark Meismer, Ray Leeper and the list goes on. She continues her eductation each year, attending classes, workshops, and teacher certifications in different subjects. Cara's most recent teacher certification was in New York City training with Bolshoi Ballet Academy. 

 

Cara absolutely loves teaching children and continues to push herself to provide the best dance education for her community.  She hopes the studio will provide an encouraging atmosphere for all levels of dance.  She takes pride in teaching the children discipline, respect, a strong work ethic, dedication and committment to their craft.  The children at East Coast Performing Arts learn much more than movement and creativity.  Cara creates an environment where they push the children to their highest potential teaching them balance, through structure, discipline and love.   The children at East Coast create lasting friendships and memories that will last a life time.  Cara knows that these values will continue with these children into adulthood, as they persue college, careers, and their dreams. 

 

Cara has now been the owner/director of East Coast Performing Arts for 7 years.  She is an amazing mother of 2 boys, Nolan and Nixon.  She could not be more thankful for the support and guidance of her family and friends and all of those who choose East Coast Performing Arts as a home.  Cara looks forward to the future of the studio, memories, friendships and adventures to come.
